How to Spend a Lazy Day

The question is “What is your favorite way to spend a lazy day?”. My answers are less Bruno Mars and more Spanky & Our Gang:

This is a tough one because there are a lot of variables. First off though, not alone. I would rather be doing something with someone I love than anything without them. Secondly, my answer changes with the weather.

On a Warm “Lazy Day”

I started with warm because it is my favorite. Me in my hammock with a book, the kids playing in their little pool, the dogs mulling about, my wife bring in me food and drinks… (again, this in not necessarily reality). I could enjoy this for a few hours, but not all day (unless I fell asleep, which has happened before).

On a Hot “Lazy Day”

Pool. Something I can dive into, float on, and swim around in, without dealing with too may other people. The point is being lazy right? Let’s play some Marco Polo or Sharks & Minnows, but the “Lazy River” at Splashtown just isn’t relaxing. I could do this for a good while, switching between playing, reading, snacking, watching a movie projected on the fence…

On a Cold “Lazy Day”

Cold days without snow are stupid. But doing puzzles, building with Legos, or playing board games would be a pretty good way to spend the day.

On a Rainy “Lazy Day”

Blah. I’d be doing the same thing as on a cold day, but with the added thrill of having to talk louder and wondering if the power is going to go out.

On a Snowy “Lazy Day”

Okay, this isn’t going to happen here, but if I were somewhere where it had snowed (or was snowing lightly) I would be out in it for a snowball fight, snowboarding, and sledding – and that could easily go on from sunrise to sunset, at which time I’d get into the hot tub until I was all pruned up, then I’d dry out in front of a nice fire with hot chocolate and a good movie.

Unfortunately I don’t really get lazy days right now, but sometimes I do try make time for a lazy afternoon, and can partially succeed 😉
FYI, August 10th is National Lazy Day.
How about you, what is your favorite way to spend a lazy day?
