Making an abode from a shipping container is nothing new. But Hong Kong-based architects OVA Studio has really taken the concept to a whole new level.
Their Hive-Inn, a submission for the Radical Innovation Awards Competition 2014, uses containers that can be swapped in and out, depending on the hotel’s needs. And not to worry about your good night’s sleep interrupted by the entire building toppling over because the entire building is supported by metal grid structure designed to hold up the hotel when a room is swapped out.

And if the room swapping sounds unnecessary or overly expensive, well consider that each container is themed on the style of a famous designer or brand. Talk about advertising potential.
